HAWTHORNE STATION AND MERITAGE HOMES
Hawthorne Station, a long-anticipated development on 72 acres in Ward 4, sat idle for nearly two decades until Councilman Gay’s leadership and advocacy brought it to life. Initially envisioned by the Folia Group, the project faced delays and later challenges when the COVID-19 pandemic caused the original developer to default.
Rocklyn Homes stepped in to acquire the property and, with Councilman Gay's continued support, completed the development in less than 24 months. The final phase, featuring approximately 50 homes, was later acquired by Meritage Homes, marking the completion of this transformative project.
In addition to residential construction, the development includes community-enhancing amenities negotiated as part of the project. These include Brandon Park, a walking trail, a community house, a bathroom facility, and a neighborhood association, all aimed at improving the quality of life for the residents.
