Roderick D. Gay is the dedicated Ward IV Councilman for College Park, first sworn into office on April 21, 2015. A husband, father of three, and an 18-year resident of College Park, Roderick’s roots in the community run deep. His family’s connection to College Park dates back generations, with his great-grandmother and grandfather as loyal citizens who helped shape the area’s rich history.

 

Roderick earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Tuskegee University and a Master of Public Administration from DePaul University, equipping him with the skills and knowledge to lead effectively. As the Executive Director of a non-profit organization and a part-time educator, he combines a passion for service with a commitment to community development.

 

Nationally recognized as a renowned landscape developer and entrepreneur in healthcare and landscape design, Roderick leverages his expertise to drive growth in Ward IV. His visionary approach has made a lasting impact on the community, ensuring that its history is preserved while paving the way for future generations.

Vision and Priorities

Roderick’s vision for Ward IV is rooted in inclusivity, innovation, and preservation. His key priorities include:

• Supporting Seniors: Advocating for policies that ensure financial security and accessible resources for senior citizens, including his legislation eliminating property taxes for seniors in Ward IV.

• Enhancing Public Safety: Ensuring Ward IV remains the safest ward in College Park through proactive community engagement and collaboration with law enforcement.

• Investing in Growth: Championing new developments like the 39-acre botanical garden on the former 4-H campgrounds to create recreational opportunities and beautify the community.

• Building Community Connections: Strengthening neighborhood ties through events, initiatives, and programs that foster unity and pride in Ward IV.

 

Accomplishments

• Sponsored legislation ensuring seniors in Ward IV pay no property taxes.

• Spearheaded the development of Phillips Park, the most utilized park in College Park.

• Championed the upcoming 39-acre botanical garden, bringing beauty and recreation to the area.

• Founded the College Park Ward IV Neighborhood Association and Friends of Camp Truitt, creating platforms for civic engagement and community improvement.

• Helped make Ward IV the safest ward in College Park through targeted safety initiatives.

 

Family Connection

Roderick’s wife, Pamela Stoner-Gay, is a cornerstone of the Ward 4 community and a trailblazing leader in her own right. With nearly 30 years of dedicated service to the State of Georgia, Pamela has focused her career on advancing childcare programs and ensuring brighter futures for children.

Pamela’s tireless work has earned her numerous accolades, including the BISA Legacy Award and recognition as a Legacy Winner at the College Park Black History Program. She has also received a Proclamation from Fulton County, honoring her steadfast commitment to civil rights, social justice advocacy, and community service.

​

A true visionary for Ward 4, Pamela co-founded the Ward 4 Citywide Festival and the In Love Vanemtone Concert, creating vibrant opportunities for community engagement. As a founding board member of Camp Truitt, she has helped shape meaningful experiences for local youth.

Pamela’s passion for public service reached new heights when she ran for Mayor of College Park, demonstrating her unwavering dedication to enhancing the lives of others. She continues to serve as an advocate, leader, and inspiration for the community.
